Libraries and their activities in the context of historical and local history development in the region

The article reveals the historical and local history activities of libraries Odessa region in second half 40s – 80s XX century. analysis this activity indicates that despite great difficulties (the residual principle financing culture, weak material technical base libraries), they have become real centers work region. During period, accumulated a significant bibliographic on issues, acquired extensive experience working with research. In development library lore, an important role was played by bibliographers lore scientific libraries. Thanks to their activities, fund collected almost every library, catalogs card indexes were created, which included numerous materials various topics. That is why performed social functions education culture units became history. However, regional studies require further in-depth study, because time they, acting as information centers, engaged search, storage provision literature for public use. negatively affected those general tendencies life arising from very nature then totalitarian regime.
